1967 corvette for sale – End of C2
The 1967 was the end of an era for the Chevrolet corvette, the last year the C2 model was built. The C2 model was created 1963 and became an instant success due to its fantastic design. The C2 model featured details and forms that few ever had though about before and became soon known as a UFO on wheels. The C2 model was extremely aggressive but not at all brutal and was a major hit among the buyers. Although the C2 model at first was a hardtop so many demanded that a convertible should be created that Chevrolet complied by making one the very same year. The convertible lost some of the cool details that the original featured but was although the favourite among buyers.
1967 corvette for sale – Features
The exterior design had not changed extremely from the original, the famous split window and fake hood vents that came on the 1963 years model was dropped one year later. The 1967 corvette featured gill-like vents between the front vehicles and the doors. The very popular “big block” version also featured what today is known as the stinger hood, a very characteristic hood air intake which was painted in a contrasting colour to really make a big deal out of it. The interior had seen a major improvement over the years and was much more discrete in than in the earlier models, still having the same design but with a more down to earth colour. Although still resembling an airplane cockpit the interior was a little redecorated since the classic “sissy-bar” was removed and the emergency brake ended up between the passenger and drivers seat.
1967 corvette for sale – Safety and environment
One of the reasons for why a new design was planned for 1968 was that new law regulations controlling smog and safety was coming into action so in a way the 1967 year model became somewhat of a test vehicle for the new technologies that would be implemented in future models. So although the 1967 year model was a C2 model by heart it featured a lot of new and innovative details. Mushroom shaped knobs and a function making directional signalling easier were implemented to avoid accidents, and if an accident did happen the 1967 year model had an energy absorbing steering column, a thicker dash pad and shatter rear view mirror with a break-away mount.
